MathematicsAfter an initially poor start in retail, I moved onto computer programming and began training other adults; particularly those who experienced difficulty in learning to use the software that we developed. I went back to education in 1988 and in 1996 began teaching in College with a particular focus on working for Young Adults with Learning Issues.
Overview
In 2004 I qualified and moved to Secondary Mathematics Teaching and continued to tutor GCSE and A Level Mathematics students with Learning Issues. In 2010, I moved away from mainstream teaching, to develop a person-centred approach for coaching and supporting individuals with additional needs using techniques from Warwick University for coaching the development of Mathematical Resilience and Cambridge University’s ‘Lego Therapy’, used to develop communication and appropriate social interactions with Autist Learners. To date, I have offered Tuition to private individuals, home-school and since September 2016, I have worked with Looked After Children.
